The 1975The 1975 is a band consisting of Matty Healy (lead singer and guitarist), George Daniel (drummer), Adam Hann (guitarist) and Ross MacDonald (bassist). The band formed in 2002. They are an indie alternative rock band, which is my favourite genre of music. The band name was created when the lead singer Matty Healy was looking at the back page of a Beat Poetry book dated "June 1, The 1975". He told his band mates and they settled on that name. Matty Healy grew up with his mum, Denise Welch, and dad, Tim Healy, in Newcastle and Manchester. In 2004, Healy met Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald at Wimslow High School and decided that they would start a band. Healy was originally supposed to be the bands drummer but changed to be the lead singer after the former lead singer left for another band. They needed a drummer and eventually they found George Daniel.
